Rainy Seasons!

Since the end of school we've had a rainy season here in New England. The skies have been grey and misting or raining for the last 2-3 weeks, except for the occasional brief glimpse of sun. The weather forecast says to expect the same for the next ten days! People are grumpy, vacations have been spoiled and end of the school year activities have been postponed and even cancelled. New England is starting to feel like Old England!

I have to say I enjoy a good rainy day or two, on the bright side you can read your books, blog without feeling guilt and skip blowing out your hair. It's cost effective too! We haven't really run the air conditioner, who needs to water the plants and we push off going to the store because, "Who wants to get wet?", not me!

but.............Even for me this rain is getting to be, too much! People are starting to gather wood for an arc! My kids miss their friends, pools are over filled and the beaches are empty! Scurvy is almost upon us, We need our vitamin C. I miss my sun glasses that give the world a rosy glow!

So if your out there and you've read this.........

What do you do when the rainy day never ends?

Where do you find your rainbow?

And most importantly is there a Native American Dance to make the rain stop?

I love Girl Scouts!

Allison and Megan are both in Girl Scouts!

This is Allison's troop at SPARK!

She is always so happy to be with the other girls learning about self esteem, service and fun! The Leaders are really great too!

The best part of Girl Scouts has to be the S'mores!
Here is Megan's troop at awards night. They all worked so hard and got lots of patches this year! Megan's favorite was the scrapbooking patch.

Here is Megan with one of her leaders Brenda McGinn. Brenda has been Megan's leader since Kindergarten. We are so lucky to have her!

I love Girl Scouts they help my daughters become well rounded member's of our community. This year alone they visited a local food bank collected food and supplies for a local pet shelter. They learned all about India for world thinking day while exploring other countries. They talked about how to be good citizens and friends.

Father's Day !

Here he is the FATHER of our house. Holding Joe's hand through the rough stuff.

He heads our table every day!

He is always willing to instigate fun!

We can count on him to do the stuff Mom won't!

When I was little I always wished I would find someone who would love me and our family as much as we loved him.

So on this Father's Day I just wanted him to know, He's the man of my dreams!

Happy Father's Day Kent!

Field Trips!

Kent decided to chaperon two field trips this year!

Here are Chris and Kent on the Duck Boat!

He had alot of fun in Boston. The kids enjoyed climbing on the statues!

Chris was glad his Dad could go!

The next day Kent went with Megan to Sturbridge village! Here is their group.

They actually helped clear a field of weeds! They thought it was fun too!

Megan was happy her Dad could come, too!

In the end Kent had a great time and was happy to wave goodbye to this one boy, who wouldn't stay out of the water all day! : )

Geneology is creative...

My friend Angela challenged everyone to spend 30 minutes this week on Genealogy! I thought of this project I'd been planning since I dried all these Japanese Maple leafs five years ago!

I attached all the leaves to a pretty paper. Then I labeled each leaf with a name of a member of my four generation chart.

I had so much fun! I can't wait to hang it up on the wall! Thanks for the inspiration Angela : )

If you need some Inspiration to work on your Family History check out Angela's Blog. Here's a link http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2009/06/genealogy-is-doable.html

The Invention Convention!

Chris has had an amazing year in fifth grade!
Mrs. Mahoney has been a wonderfully patient and kind teacher!
We will miss her next year!

In the spirit of Invention!
The fifth graders were
challenged to build
a working invention
with at least two
simple machines!
No electricity!

Chris' invention was
The Sky Spritzer!

It's a pump sprayer
with an extension pole
to spray trees
with pesticide.
(of course
It was only filled with water)
Sorry to the
surrounding projects,
his invention worked.
He brought in
a fake tree
to demonstrate.
Needless to say,
the girls behind him
were not happy! : )
but the boys all thought it was cool!

Chris' good friend
Tom and his invention.
I don't remember the name!
Sorry Tom!

The dad's all wanted Chris' invention! What a fun day!

Allison's Baptism!

Here is my beautiful eight year old!
Allison Kate June 5th, 2009

Kent and Allison
are so excited
for the big moment!

Any minute now!

Here she is
the cleanest member
of our Branch!
Off to get the
Holy Ghost!

We had such a nice day! Grandpa said the opening prayer, Auntie SharaLyn gave the talk on Baptism and I talked about the Holy Ghost. Then Kent Baptised Allison and confirmed her a member of the church. Grandpa, Uncle Evan, Uncle Jim, President Allen and Brother Byerly stood in the circle. We are so Proud of our AlliKate! I would just like to add my testimony that I know the church is true and that Jesus Christ is our Savior, as we live the gospel and keep the commandments Heavenly Father blesses us. We can be together forever as families!

State Fair Project

Fourth grade is the year of states. Students spend the year studing facts about each region from the state bird to the exact location of the each capital star on the map. They finish the year with a State Fair. Here is Megan celebrating a year of hard work. Her project was on Vacation Land, Maine!

Here are Megan and her friend Hailee,
cutie pies!
Hailee did her project on the home of the
potato
she brought potato salad as her food to try!

Way to go Idaho!

Here's Megan's new friend Natasha Showing off the Beautiful Bay State, Massachusetts!
and last but not least Alex chose the Grand Canyon State!
Sunny Arizona

I love how school makes me more well rounded as I learn so much helping my children study, even if I complain about all the work!
